Finally got IBL (mostly) working in my OpenGL renderer. I spent most of yesterday debugging some weird artifacts I was getting, but I'm pretty sure it was just some crazy high values from the HDR map I was sampling, because it works fine now after I switched to the hdr map used in the learnopengl.com tutorials. (So I just need to add some clamping to the values I think).

Used a stress-tester to debug my solution to the Closest-Pair Problem!

Well, that was a nightmare. I have spent the last hour and a half debugging what turned out to be a single line of code, but other than that, today i have started work on the gpu conversion of my walkers thingy. Basic rundown of how it works. I store the data for each walker in a texture, I keep their position and time alive, but not much else. In my case, I store the x position in the top left of an image, (see below), encoded as a 32 bit float (using all four channels because webgl 1.0 only supports 8 bit color channels), the top right keeps the y position. In the bottom left, I keep the time alive (in frames) in the r channel, and whether to render or not (as a bool, 0 or 1) in the g channel. The bottom right is at this point unused. Each frame, I take the previous's frames texture, and render over top of it, updating using a fragment shader (which is not yet written

) Then, I pass that texture to another vertex shader, which generates a bunch of points based of of each pixel in the texture. In theory, its super easy, but in practice... not so much. Encoding the float over the four color channels was not fun, as I kept getting a normal distribution of points even when the initial texture was completely random (and uniform, I checked). I spent a couple hours trying to work that one out only to discover I hadn't unbound one of the webgl globals, so that was fun. Calculating the uv coordinates based only on the point index was ok, but implementing a ping pong frame buffer for the texture update frag shader was a bit tricky. Day 15 of #C045S4393CY| I really wanted to show the redesigned clock app today, I worked on it a lot, but my code completely stopped working around 2 days ago and its showing no errors, I spent a few hours today trying to fix it adding debug prints everywhere and more, but I can't seem to fix it, but I'll keep working on it, but there will not be a big reveal. I have been using try and except blocks but somewhere along in the code something has to be happening, and if it's really small, I might have to add back code function by function and see what happens. I did work on the app some amount in a different program for testing so I could integrate it but again, it needs other functions and all so I am focusing on making sure the phone does not stop right after starting.

Day 14 of #C045S4393CY| I am expecting to finish the clock app redesign tomorrow! Today I worked on functionality and logic. But I have a huge error right now that stops my code from opening, the code does not even show a single debug statement which is a huge problem, it suddenly started happening and I have to fix it so I have been trying. Don't have much to show though.

Day 6 of #C045S4393CY| Today again like yesterday was a debugging day, I don't have much to show visually but I was able to make the code a bit faster, not crazy faster but a bit faster, and I am still working on connecting apps and building prototypes of code to integrate the AI with the clock app. This should help everything work better when I do implement new features, because sometimes if the setup is not nice everything breaks down and it becomes a mess

Exam week is finally over! Today I added some coins to my game, with some more vfx, some more sounds, font rendering (with SDL_ttf), some ui improvements, leaves (particles that fall from the trees and stuff, kinda hard to see with all of the coins), and did some debugging (another seg fault waah). Started working on some method to automatically fill in some blanks for structs in case I run into stack exceptions. Development is overall going well but I hate having to go through a file that's a thousand lines long to find a specific variable, function call, etc. It's getting less complicated, and debugging everything isn't too arduous of a task. Okay - for my Nixvim configuration today, i added autocompletions and snippets using friendly snippets and nvim-cmp; add whichkey to show set keybindings; add Lazygit support; add enum all for treesitter; add telescope keybindings; and add debugging for: c using codelldb, c++ using codelldb, rust using codelldb + rustaceanvim, go using dap-go and delve, and python using dap-python. The rustaceanvim alone took me more than an hour 😭. Though, here's a pic of my debugging setup with codelldb + rust with the simple Josephus problem:

Been a long time since I actually posted something on here... I have made an app for android (and linux) that makes using AirPods on those operating systems way easier and better. Do you know how much Apple likes to restrict most of the features to their devices. Well, I removed the restriction! I reverse-engineered how Apple devices communicate with AirPods and wrote an app for linux and android. AirPods use the L2CAP Bluetooth protocol to communicate with apple devices. The linux version of this app has multiple scripts. One of them runs as a daemon to handle the connection, and others to handle UI, userspace, like pausing music, lowering volume, etc.. I did this so that I can have multiple applications which can talk to the AirPods without interrupting the other one. It is written purely in Python. Currently, I have made a tray application using PyQT5/6. It manages ear detection, conversational awareness, and gives me control over ANC. And, it shows the battery level too! As for the Android app, well I have attached a few images! Yes, I have tried to clone iOS's settings screen for AirPods.

The android app was a pain to work upon. For starters, Android's bluetooth stack sent extra packets to the AirPods to check for some flow control mode. The AirPods will not respond to anything until they receive a specific handshake packet. I had to download the entire android source to test out and edit the libbluetooth_jni.so (the bluetooth stack). Then, I used my smol brain to make a few changes to the source code (and by a few changes, i mean commented a few lines)... And, it worked! Rant about Apple - Guess what- They hide their handshake packet from the PacketLogger app which allows me to view all the packets sent/received from my mac to any bluetooth device. Fortunately this was available online thanks to some other people who worked way before me. Apple even hid another packet necessary to activate Conversational Awareness and Adaptive Audio! Somehow, I got really, really, really lucky, and the packet just showed up in the PacketLogger app, shortly after which, it crashed.

What works on the app – • Accurate battery levels • In-Ear detection – Music is automatically paused when they're taken out of ear! Plus, AirPods are removed as an available audio output device when none of the AirPods are in ear. • Conversational Awareness – Lowers volume when you start speaking! • Set Noise Control Mode – I can change the Noise Control Mode on my AirPods Pro 2! • Renaming AirPods • And a bunch of other settings extracted from the iOS/iPadOS settings page. ◦ Namely, Toggle Conversational Awareness, Toggle Loud Sound Reduction, Set Adaptive Audio Noise level, Toggle Automatic ear detection, Off listening Mode, Tone Volume, Noise Cancellation with Single AirPod, Toggle Volume Control by swiping. • And, of course, a debug screen, which lists all packets received, and even allows you to send packets! I've been working more on my Chip-8 emulator for #C07PZMBUNDS|! I have almost all the opcodes implemented, and I'm working on debugging some carry flags and keyboard inputs before finishing up and compiling it into a WASM binary.

It is one of few games that bypasses the sprig grid system, and the only reason it feels janky is because Sprig doesn't send keyup events or let you check if a key is pressed, so your code has to operate only on keydown events.
