Yesterday I helped run the computer science table at our school district's middle school academy fair! talking hundreds of middle schoolers was very taxing, but it actually went great, we had a crowd around our table the entire time! I obviously advertised Hack Club a ton even though I was low on posters & flyers-- people loved the Sprig, the LED matrix (upcoming ysws 👀), the stickers, and most of all, the game! I projected my #C07MUFXNG82| pinball game onto the ceiling to draw people over & gave candy to people who could score 1000! I wanted to buy a gong with school budget that we could hit every time someone beat the high score, but even though it (shockingly) got approved it didn't arrive in time. Definitely gonna recreate this setup in the future!

Gotta start posting here! So update: Delved into webhooks, created a GitHub webhook to listen for workflow_run event's status, push status to the db and show it to the frontend table today. It worked without any hiccups in just one go, so pretty happy! :happi: :hack:

Working on planning Zephyr 2.0. I realize that this is probably just a desperate wish, but I would like to have another Zephyr. I have already begun planning it. This one would be called Zephyr 2.0. not too much again today added fade animations when selecting and deselecting, heatmap now updates in realtime, cleaned up some of the code, and updated all the npm packages without breaking the entire thing!

Today I worked a lot on #C084UELDWRJ| (TheHackMic) logistics, I also worked a little on the hack club shop! Later today I got a podcast recording with @/jps which I am super excited for!

Messed around with variable names, added a couple of better/more readable variable names, etc. Honestly it makes the code look so much more clean. I also made sure we used an external nvs handle so we don't keep reopening it. Along with that I modified the sdkconfig so that the partitioning allows for more space. Link: github.com/dj1ch/HomeNet

Hey yaal! Did lots of work today 🙂 Lots of choir work for the concert, bioing for the bio final + a bit of math For hc work I did boba drops bts (airtable stuff) and announced that cascade is ending early 😞 + I worked with @/jps for updating the toolbox, check it out (lots of new stuff) toolbox.hackclub.com. Lastly worked with @Mohamad on launching his ysws. Tmrw I plan to work on the hack club shop + toolbox and more ysws stuff

Advent of code day 2!

Not much to say code-wise, though it was definitely cleaned up quite a bit and it also no longer has unsafe blocks. Rather than doing a static mut variable, I finally fixed it and used Rocket's [State](rocket.rs/guide/v0.5/state/#state) instead. The big thing is that I've hugely improve the docs. (note: the compiler could not guarantee it was unsafe, but i could; it was safe already, i'm just doing things properly now)

Continued working on the hack assembler written in C (which I wish finished it today tbh), now can handle predefined symbols and labels. Every part except the empty lines have been compiled as expected. I just need to finish adding support for labels and variables and that should be everything... I told myself something similar 2 days ago when I didn't knew that I would need to implement variables... Essentially I hope I'm done by tomorrow, really hope I can participate into the advent of code this year...

Today I wrote a Hello World! program. In fact, it was written in a programming language I invented. The Muffin language lets you write programs that look like cooking recipes. The picture below shows how the compiler compiles the Hello world recipe into a big chunk of js code that (surprisingly) prints out Hello world. Most part of the code generator was done now. Updated pop music website! Fixed slideshow, updated navigation bar, hamburger menu and also improved on the JavaScript code... My goal with this is to convince our school to let us have a space for student websites that we'd voluntarily make for fun… If anything I'm learning something new by making a site about a hobby

This is my scrapbook post for yesterday: I think I’ve mostly finished level 2 of my Slime Game! All that’s left is to add some coins, and then I can move on to level 3. I also need to test the level and scan through my code to make sure all the variables are resetting properly. I also changed around my initial design of the level, to make it a bit harder
